An article in the New York Times indicates that drug cartels are turning hospitals into yet another battleground in their trail of destruction across Mexico. From the article: "Hit men pursuing rivals into intensive care units and emergency rooms. Shootouts in lobbies and corridors. Doctors kidnapped and held for ransom, or threatened with death if a wounded gunman dies under their care. With alarming speed, Mexico’s violent drug war is finding its way into the seeming sanctuary of the nation’s hospitals, shaking the health care system and leaving workers fearing for their lives while trying to save the lives of others." |

According to the New York Times, ABC is producing a reality series about the U.S. Border Patrol called "Homeland Security USA." The producers have been working with various Department of Homeland Security agencies to produce the show, which will highlight a variety of the tough and dangerous situations our border agents face in their daily efforts to protect our country... |

More than 50 people have been killed in Tijuana in the past week, amid escalating gang violence in that city. Some of the bodies were decapitated, and several others showed signs of being tortured. Also, yesterday the mayor of Ixtapan de la Sal, a tourist city near Mexico city, was shot. More than 3000 people have been killed in drug related violence in Mexico this year. |
